My pattern:
R1: ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, sl st in top of 1st ch
R2: ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each remaining st around, sl st in top of ch 3
R3: ch 3, dc in same st, [dc in next st, 2 dc in next st] repeat around, sl st in top of ch 3
R4: ch 1, sc in same st, [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] repeat around, sl st in ch 1
R5: sc through back loop around, sl st in first st (48 sts)
R6: ch 4 [sk next st, dc in next st, ch 1] repeat around, sl st in top of 3rd ch st
R7: sl st in first ch 1 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, sc in next ch 1 sp, [5 dc in next sp, sc in next sp] repeat around, sl st in top of ch 3
R8: sl st in 1st 2 sts, sc in next st, [ch 5, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop] repeat around, sl st in first sc
R9: sl st 1st 2 ch sts, [sc in ch 5 sp, ch 5] repeat around, sl st in first sc
R10: repeat R9
R11: ch 5 [dc in next ch 5 sp, ch 2] repeat around, sl st in top of 3rd ch st
R12: repeat R7
Chain as many sts as needed for cords

My pattern:
Using H/5mm hook ch 4, sl st in first ch to make loop.
R1: ch 3, 2 dc in loop, (ch 2, 3 dc in loop) repeat 2 more times, ch 2, sl st in top of ch 3, fasten off, turn
R2: with new color draw up loop in any corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next corner sp) repeat 2 more times, sl st in top of ch 3, fasten off, turn
R3: with border color draw up loop in any corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, [3 dc in next sp between clusters from previous round, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next corner sp)] repeat 2 more times, 3 dc in next sp between clusters from previous round, sl st in top of ch 3, fasten off, turn
Continue in this manner.
