Rainbow Granny Square Pattern:
Size H hook
Med weight Yarn
Using Main color, sky color, make a magic circle.
R1 – ch 2 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout) 12 dc in magic circle. sl stitch to top of first dc. (12 sts)
R2 – ch 2, 2 dc in first dc and in the next 3. Change to blue before pulling through with the last 2 loops on the hook in the last dc. with blue, 2 dc in each of the next 8 dc. Change to white when you sl st stitch to top of first dc. (24 sts)
R3 – ch 2, *2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next * repeat from * 3 more times. Change to yellow before pulling through the last 2 loops on the hook in the last dc. With yellow, repeat from * 8 more times. Change to white when you st st to top of first dc. (36 sts)
R4 – ch 2, *2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc * repeat from * 3 more times. Change to red before pulling through the last 2 loops on the hook in the last dc. With red, repeat from * 8 more times. Change to white when you sl st to top of the first dc. (48 sts)
R5 – ch 2, dc in first st. *(2 tr, ch 3) in next dc. 2 tr in next dc. dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts. repeat from * around until you get to the last 2 st. dc in the last stitch then sl st to top of that first dc.
R6 – ch 2, dc in each st to ch-3 sp, (2dc, chain 3, 2 dc) in each ch-sp, repeat around and sl st to top of first dc.
*optional to turn it into a granny square* –
R7 – attach yarn to any corner with a sl st. chain 2, *(3 dc, chain 3, 3 dc ch 1 ) in corner. skip next st, dc in next 3 sts, ch 1, skip next st, dc in next 3 sts, ch 1, skip next 2 sts. dc in next 3 sts, ch 1, skip next st, dc in next 3 sts, ch 1 * Repeat from 8 around. sl st to top of first dc.
